CJFM .. shhhh ;)

A couple of weeks ago Ty's were asked to do a flash mob to promote our schools musical 'Calamity Jane'. Only Ty's and a few teachers knew about the flash mob. A few girls came up with a dance to 'The Windy City' and 'Animal'. The girls thought us the dance during class time because we had to practise in secret so the rest of school wouldn't find out. In order to keep it a secret we had a secret code which was 'CJFM' meaning ' Calamity Jane Flash Mob'.  We performed the flash mob in the courtyard of the school at lunch time. The whole school gathered around.

On Saturday the 7th of December we performed the flash mob in the courtyard of St.Patricks Church in village as the Christmas lights were being turned on and there was a large crowd. We all wore checkered shirts to promote the western side of the musical.  Once we started dancing , the grows gathered around us shocked and taking pictures and videos. I think we did a good job at promoting :):):)

Happy Hollydays!

Today we went to town to volunteer for the ISPCC HollyDays fund, raising money for Childline. We all got into groups of 2/3 and were given a bib to wear and a box of holly badges and a money container to sell at 2euro each. We were all given a place to sell. I was just outside the Disney store on Grafton Street with Aoife and Sophie. 

There were also other schools volunteering for other charities so it was tough to get people to help us all out, but we did end up making some friends with students in the other schools. Once it came lunch time it began to get busy and a lot of people supported the ISPCC.

So today we went on a project maths trip to Rathbeggan Lakes. We were all separated into small groups and were given maths problems to solve. We worked as a team on each problem whether it was counting - making shapes - or measuring. As it is December and we were outside I think its safe to say we were all frozen! My day was made when we drove up to the centre and i saw a donkey in the field - followed by loads of ducks and 2 goats omg

For the past 9 weeks i have been on work experience every Wednesday in Kevin Street Garda Station. I have really enjoyed my time I spent there. Over the 8 weeks I went to the courts, visited th Garda Headquarters, visited the main office in the station, went with my supervisor to take a statement off a man, I was taught how to clip a CCTV tape and upload it to G-Tube the Garda Youtube.

My favourite part of the placement was going test purchasing for alcohol. I went into numerous shops/ Off-licences. I had to take any two cans of beer and try purchase it. Most places refused as I didnt have I.D but one place sold me drink. I thought it was scary and embarrising but it was interesting.

I had a good time during my placement in Kevin Street , the people were very friendly.

Zumbaaaaaaa

For the past 3 weeks we have been doing 80 minutes of Zumba a week and i have really enjoyed it ! Everybody gets involved and has great fun learning the dances.

Zumba is a dance fitness program Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba's choreography incorporates hip-hop, salsa, mambo and martial arts. Squats and lunges are also included.The exercises include music with fast and slow rhythms.

T-T-Taxi Cab

So our annual funwalk took place on the 11/10/13. Each class had created a dance while wear the set colour to represent each year.( 1st year- pink, 2nd year- purple, 3rd year- green, TY- yellow, 5th year- blue and 6th years- black&white). My class had spent 2 weeks creating a taxi and were up first to perform. We got up and performed infront of all students and teachers , and really enjoyed ourselves. When we finised we sat back down and watch all the other classes. Following the performances we all went on a small walk and when we returned to the school we were all given a soft drink <3

Although we did not win the dance for our year , we all had great fun , preparing & performing.

Museum Madness

Today we went to the Pearse Museum as an Irish trip. We were given a guided tour of the school/building , watched a short video about the history of Patrick Pearse and the school  and we had to answer an Irish worksheet based on the history. We were also given a tour of the garden and were told about each tree, what is it/ where it came from. While my class Tabei were in the gardens we decided it would be a fun idea to make a quick videostar, so we did exactly that although in the end the video mainly starred Aoife, Aisling, Niamh, Sophie & myself. It was a great day!

Workshop Wednesday wooooo! Today , again , we had 3 workshops - Positive parties - Etiquette - Prep for upcoming work experience :) In positive parties we learnt how to be positive in the workplace by playing mini-games and i got to dress up as a banana wool! as always the class was full of laughs ! In Etiquette we learnt how to/ not to apply fake tan , what skin tone we had whether we were more suited to cool or warm colours or even both and then Brenda did a make-up tutorial on Nicole while we all followed her steps and applied our own makeup. Mr.C & Mrs.H prepared us for our upcoming work experience which was very helpful! Another successful Wednesday<3

On the 16th of September we were all up early to meet at Esso and head off to Carlingford where we would spend the night in the adventure centre. We enjoed many activities including team-building mini games , laser combat , water sports and zorbing. My favourites were laser combat in the forest as everybody came together to work as a team and we had alot of fun and zorbing. As we were staying over night I was in a room with 11 others , we had great fun playing top trumps , UNO and connecting with our nintendo ds' <3 overall i really enjoyed the trip and would return without a doubt :)

Results !!

On Wednesday the 11th of September I recieved my junior cert results. While the 5th years were in school at 9:05 the TY's were'nt in until 11:50. At 12 we all gathered in the hall to collect our results we were all very nervous!! I opened my envelope and was very happy with what i had achieved! I went out to the car where my dad was waiting for me. My parents were both very proud. They brought me to Starbucks where i got a frap <3

The girls came to my house at 3:30 to get ready to go out to celebrate. We had alot of fun getting ready together even though we had to split as half were going time and myself and Sophie were going to The Wrights Venue in Swords. I had a great night will all my friends ! I got home at 1:30pm and was wrecked in the morning as we had to be in schoool for 9:05am , although we did go Castletown House at 1:20pm which broke up the day for us all. Over all i had a great results night , one of the best nights so far :)

Workshop Wednesday!!!!!

 Last Wednesday we had 3 workshops taking place in our school for all TY students. The first workshop my class attendend was based on building confidence , our future and what dreams/goals we have achieved/ would like to achieve. The second workshop was based on relaxation by massage. We got into groups of two and learned 3 basic massage tecniques, which were very relaxing!! The third workshop was Postive Parties which the title makes clear the it is all about being a positive person. We played positive games, danced , and shared stories of a positive time we have experienced.
